Cannabis is considered an annual plant;
that is, the plant completes its life cycle in one growing season.
The seeds germinated in the spring and grow through the long days of summer,
until the shorter days of autumn induce the plant to flower and reproduce.
The seeds fall from the plant in late autumn and with the warmth of spring, they germinate in the soil.
When this happens the cycle is finished, and with the frosts and cold of winter the plant dies.
If, however, the weather is mild, the plant can survive winters that have no heavy freezes.
Outdoors, during the winter, the plants will grow slowly, but has soon as spring comes along,
the weather warms and the light is more intense, the plants respond with rapid new vegetative growth.
In such places as Hawaii, Jamaica or Thailand it is possible to have perennial weed plants.
Indoors of course, it is a different story as we are not as dependant on the seasons.
Indoors it is much easier to trick a plant into think it has survived the winter and it is spring again.
It is a shame to cut down a plant when it has an extensive trunk and root system;
Once the plants revert to vegetative growth,
they come back very quickly as they already have a well formed main stem and root system:

To Regenerate a Plant.
To prepare a plant for regeneration take the bulk of your crop byt leaves some lower branches with green leaves and some small buds; (See above.)
It is from the buds that the new growth will come from.(see below)
The plants revert much quicker when they are given 24 hours of light;
The light does not need to be intense at first, as the idea is to give the plant a long day so that it will revert from flowering back to veg growth.
Then give her a feed of nutrient which is high in nitrogen and micro elements.
After the first watering with a high Nitrogen fertilizer,
let the plant dry out so that the roots have plenty of oxygen so that they can absorb nutrients.
Moreover, as the plant has very little branches and leaves to transpire water, its water requirements are low.
Watch for magnesium and micro element deficiencies.
Once the plant has soon signs of new vegetative growth then turn the lights down to 18 hours a day of intense light.
You will see the new growth comes out of the buds(see below)

as the above plant shows more vegative growth, I shall post new photos to show the whole process, as the plant returns to rapid veg growth..
Happy regenerating,
john
